CYCLING IN THE NORTH OF PORTUGAL

Are you looking for a real adventure riding your bike away from the city enjoying the wonderful landscapes the nature offers?

This is for you!

In northwestern Portugal, between Alto Minho and Trás-os-Montes, we find the Peneda-Gerês National Park, the only Portuguese protected area classified as such. Considered by “The Guardian” as one of the 10 best Natural Parks in Europe, it is “a world apart” in which nature and human beings are in perfect harmony.

Designed for regular cyclists (road or mountain), this Gerês Cycling Tour will last 9 days, with 7 days of cycling and a total distance covered of approximately 500km, in a cumulative total from 5000 to 8000 meters of altitude, exploring the interior of these majestic scenarios.

Our team will provide assistance and there will be a caravan with the group during all the program.

The program includes accommodation in single rooms.

This City Break will take you in a private guided visit in Lisbon.

You will be able to admire the Calouste Gulbenkian Musem, and visit a incredible church that survived to the Lisbon´s Earthquake of 1755.

Enjoy the wonderful views of Cascais and the Magical atmosphere of Sintra.

The variety of fascinating historic buildings and beautiful scenery has established Sintra as a Fantastic Tourist destination and has since, become the most popular day trip from Lisbon.

We will visit Évora, a historic city lying at the heart of Alentejo, is heir to a rich and diverse cultural heritage, built and preserved over time. The well preserved historic and artistic heritage of the city, underlie the classification of Évora as World Cultural Heritage since 1986.

In the last day you will go in an incredible guided tour at the Monastery of Jerónimos and the Tower of Belém. Located in one of the Lisbon´s most nobre areas, Belém, you will visit a masterpiece of 16th century architecture in Portugal, The Monastery of Jerónimos, listed as a National Monument and inscribed on Unesco´s World Heritage List.

Inscribed on Unesco´s World Heritage List, the Tower of Belém is a icon of Portugal´s cultural heritage spread across the world.

Depending on your wishes we may add a boat tour.

To complete this noble day, we will end our tour in St. George´s Castle, enjoying a traditional meal.

From the Castle you will have the chance to enjoy the views, the surroundings are the ideal to the last pictures.

In Portugal you will find an extraordinary mix of architectural styles.
Lets focus in Lisbon for example. Much of the city was laid to ruins by the Great Earthquake in 1755. Because of this it’s possible to find examples of architecture from every period of its history.
Although the Pombaline style is mostly seen in Lisbon, it was also used in many towns in southern Portugal. However, downtown Lisbon is the Pombaline masterpiece.
You will be able to find the Manueline style and the beautiful Baroque interiors too.
The Manueline, occasionally known as Portuguese late Gothic, is the sumptuous, composite Portuguese architectural style originating in the 16th century, during the Portuguese Renaissance and Age of Discoveries.
The most important urban project of recent times was the rebirth of the eastern waterfront district – Parque das Nações, for the World Fair of 1998. That’s where you find the most notable examples of contemporary architecture.
With us you will visit the most important examples of each style.
To see the contemporary architecture and to guarantee you will not miss any detail the tour is with an architect.

Depart with us to the discovery of the Upper Douro Valley, the oldest protected wine region in the world.

We will meet you at the airport to take you in a panoramic tour in Porto. After this a Helicopter is waiting to taking you to Douro Valley. The views from above are absolutely unforgettable.

You will have a relaxed dinner at the Hotel.

In the 2nd day, before lunch you will enjoy a wine tour. During the tour, you will visit the winery, the wine atelier and the underground wine cellar where the best wine blends selected by the family age. The tour ends at the panoramic room where the wine tastes are presented.

The lunch is served in the exclusive restaurant of the property that privileges local food and assumes the importance of sustainability, preserving the local food resources of each season. The chef surprises the guests every day with a different menu, according to the best that nature offers.

After lunch you may choose the experience that better suits you, a bike tour or a Jeep tour through the vineyards. To the ones that are really interested in the story behind the labels, we have the right experience for you! Alternatively if you would like to do your own Port Wine with your label, we can also help you!

After this, you can relax in a private Rabelo Boat Cruise, or during a Yacth Cruise and appreciate the stunning views of Douro Valley and the wineries next to the river.

Dinner will be served in a local Restaurant.

In the 3rd day you will visit a well known winery designed by a Pritzker Prize-winning architect. A traditional lunch will be served in the vineyards.

After lunch prepare yourself to a astonishing visit to a Palace set in beautiful gardens on a vast farm considered to be one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in Portugal. Its interior decoration includes some intricately carved wood ceilings, furniture from several periods, 17th and 18th century paintings, silverware, ceramics and a library with a remarkable edition of the epic portuguese poem “Os Lusíadas”. The palace is owned by the Mateus Foundation.

A private transfer will take you back to the Hotel.

The program ends in the 4th day after breakfast with the private transfer to Porto Airport.
